Table tennis club hosts end of season awards
FORT Willam`s Table Tennis Club held their annual end- ofseason presentation evening at the Innseagan House Hotel recently following the final week’s matches.
Club chairman John Grant announced the winners and runners-up, and the prizes were presented by Angus MacDonald.
Following the presentations, members and their partners enjoyed an excellent buffet that was made available by the hotel.
In Division 1, Steven Crook proved too strong for his opponents and he again remained unbeaten to retain the championship. As in the previous season, Monte Bleasdale claimed the runner-up spot.
In Division 2, Aileen MacFadzean claimed the title for the first time as she remained unbeaten, with Stuart Steele taking the runner-up spot.
The open singles competition was again won by Steven Crook when he beat surprise finalist Fiona Clarke.
In the final of the doubles competition, John Grant and Aileen MacFazdean overcame Monte Bleasdale and Neil Cameron to claim the trophy.
A spokesperson for the club said: ‘ We had a very successful night on Saturday at Innseagan Hotel. The buffet served was enjoyed by the club members and families, bringing a very good season to an end.
‘The best newcomer award went to John Steel. We are also delighted that our top player Steven Crook has been selected to play for Scotland. Now we are all looking forward to our new season starting Monday October 2 and would welcome new members who would like to join our club.’
The club have again enjoyed a successful season despite the loss of some of last season`s players. New players are always welcome, as no matter what their existing skill level is, coaching is always available from the more experienced players to those who consider themselves to be beginners.
