Fort reserves swing into action
WITHOUT a first-team fixture this weekend, it was time for the Fort William Cricket Club reserves to step forward in the Reserve Cup.
Batting first against the strong looking Inverness-based Northern Counties, captain Daniel Davidson led from the front with a fine 36 retired. Big hitting from DJ Duncan and Lewis Gibson took Fort up to 138-7 from their 30 overs.
In reply, Counties made a good start, and were ahead of the asking rate after 15 overs. But Davidson and Shepherd, with two wickets apiece, pegged them back and they had no answer to the pace of Duncan who was the pick of the bowlers taking four for three. Counties fell from 71-3 to 89 all out, with Fort winning by 49 runs.
