Rainbow Games bring sunshine in the rain
IT WAS Achaleven Primary’s turn to organise sports day this year for its own pupils as well as Barcaldine, Kilchrenan, Lismore and Strath of Appin schools.
Appin offered its facilities for the day and, as the schools are a collection of linked primaries, Achaleven decided on a collection of colours for a theme – and called them the Rainbow Games.
The pupils from Achaleven designed all the games and an active warm-up to get everyone ready. Although there was a bit of rain, it didn’t dampen spirits and lots of fun was had and friendships made – after all, you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain.
Thanks were offered to Achaleven Parent Council for a wonderful spread of refreshments and goodies to keep everyone going.
The afternoon saw some very competitive races being held. There was a flat race, skipping, potato and spoon, and then an obstacle race. It was a tight battle but in the end the orange team were victorious. However, the true victory was in seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces – they all had a great day.
