Skye chef in festival spirit
HEAD chef and Masterchef finalist Scott Davies has said he is delighted to be taking part in this year’s Spirit of Skye festival.
The festival on June 16 and 17 will exhibit more than 30 local and regional producers, including whisky distillers, awardwinning brewers, gin crafters and food producers all to showcase the what makes Skye a delight for food and drink lovers.
The Three Chimneys head chef said: ‘Skye produces some of the best fresh food in Scotland and we have not highlighted this as a community in any major way for many years.
‘Now that we have been given special recognition as a Geographic Food Destination by the Scottish Food Awards, we have an even greater excuse to celebrate Skye’s natural larder of very special ingredients, from seafood, to beef, lamb and pork, vegetables, salads, herbs, sea salt and soft fruits. There’s no stopping us.’
Items which are produced on the island include tablet, chocolates, a world-renowned single malt whisky, plus beers and, most recently, gin.
The Aros Centre in Portree will be the venue for the event, with entertainment throughout each day.
Scott added: ‘I am really looking forward to demonstrating some dishes, at the main event on Saturday at Aros. Over the whole weekend, the Three Chimneys will be highlighting dishes made with fresh local food, just as we serve every day throughout the year.’
