Consultation on coach drop-off and pick-up points

The Oban Times - - News -

THE HIGHLAND Council is carrying out a consultation on coach tour drop- off and pick-up points in Fort William.

The council has sent a questionnaire to coach tour operators, Fort William Retail Association, High Street businesses, Highland Council public transport section, Lochaber Access Panel, Lochaber Chamber of Commerce, Lochaber Transport Forum, Police Scotland and service bus operators.

Currently only service buses may use the designated bus stops, with no designated pick-up and drop- off points for tourist coaches.

The council say it hopes the consultation will determine an appropriate place for coaches to stop to maximise safety for passengers and road users, reduce inconvenience for less mobile passengers, minimise impact on the road network and ensure the economic benefit from coach passengers visiting Fort William.
