FORT WILLIAM army cadet Darren Stuart has returned from the Scottish cadet target rifle competition a winner.
The 15-year- old from the Fort William Detachment, 1st Battalion The Highlanders, represented his group at the competition, which was held near Dundee, and secured first place.
The one- day competition saw The Highlanders compete against teams of cadets from across Scotland.
Despite only having one day of practice leading up to the competition, the cadets did not let this affect them, winning every trophy in the competition.
The cadets won the Watts Bowl, for the 300m shoot, and the Frankfurt Trophy, for the 500m shoot.
Inverness cadet Corporal Euan Stewart won top shot.
By winning the Scottish competition Darren, alongside the rest of The Highlanders team, will now take part in the inter-service cadet rifle meeting, held at Bisley in Surrey in July, competing against young people from across the United Kingdom.
The Highlanders cadets target rifle team proudly show off their trophies. Now they go on to compete at Bisley.
