Saints prepare for the new season

AFTER a well- earned, though short, break Oban Saints players will soon be back in action preparing for the new season, which starts on Saturday August 12.

Training sessions will be held every Wednesday evening with the first on Wednesday July 5 at the rugby club starting at 6.30pm. Any new players will be made more than welcome. A number of pre-season games and tournaments have also been organised. The first, on Saturday July 8, will be the annual D& K Cup Tournament at Mossfield Stadium with Dundee United, Hamilton Accies, Alloa Athletic and Berwick Rangers among teams taking part.

This will be followed by pre-season games against Vale of Leven Juniors (July 22), South Lochaber Thistle (July 29) and Lochgilphead Red Star (August 2), with the Argyll and Bute Cup tournament in Lochgilphead on Saturday August 5.

Saints have been drawn in Group A alongside Rothesay Brandane, Dunoon and Neilston. Group B is Lochgilphead Red Star, Tarbert, Glasgow Islay and South Lochaber Thistle.
