Event will explore deserted township
PEOPLE on Mull will have the chance to learn about the deserted township of Ardchiavaig.
Starting on Monday (July 10), various workshops will take place over five days at Ardchiavaig. The project is called Focus on Ardchiavaig: Sùil air Àird Chiabhaig.
The free-to-attend event will give people the chance to learn what lies beneath the soil in a walk- over survey. They will get to work on an archaeological survey, get training on electronic distance measuring and digital filming. They will also be taught how to sketch and photograph the findings.
However, people taking part are asked to remember to take a fully- charged device (cameras, iPads, notebooks, smart phones) to get some tips from expert Alasdair Satchel.
A film competition will also take place for those aged between five and 16.
People can attend for as little as a couple of hours or take part in the full five days free of charge.
The event is being funded through a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
To reserve a place, message Focus on Ardchiavaig: Sùil air Àird Chiabhaig on Facebook or call 01681 700659, or go to the centre on Sunday July 9 from 2pm to 4pm. Spaces are limited and children need to be accompanied by an adult.
