MSPs probe impact of sea lice

The Oban Times - - News -

THE Scottish Parliament will launch an inquiry into the environmental impacts of fish farms following a petition, says Salmon and Trout Conservation Scotland (STCS).

The STCS lodged a petition in parliament in February last year, asking for protection for wild salmonids from sea lice.

However, the Scottish Salmon Producers say sea lice management is the best it has been for several years and would welcome a visit from MSPs.

The Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee agreed to conduct an inquiry into salmon farming in Scotland.

Guy Linley-Adams, from STCS, said: ‘ We are delighted that MSPs of all parties have shown such concern and interest and we thank them.’
