Optician puts focus on charity’s donation initiative

The Oban Times - - News -

AN OPTICIANS on George Street, Oban, pledged its support for an Oban charity and recently visited the group to deliver a trolley full of food donations.

Hope Kitchen, which helps to feed more than 40 people per day, launched a ‘Take in a Tin’ campaign earlier this year and Specsavers Oban answered the call.

A ‘jazzed-up’ shopping trolley was placed in Specsavers to encourage and collect donations.

The store team, with help from the community, filled the trolley with tins and bags of food which they then presented to Hope Kitchen to help those in need.

Ken Macdonald, Specsavers Oban store director, said: ‘Buying a couple extra cans in a weekly shop and then donating them is a simple gesture that can have such a huge positive impact on the lives of others.

‘It’s been fantastic to see the support from the local community and our store team which has allowed us to make a great donation to Hope Kitchen. A big thank you to everyone involved.’
