Impressed by hospital staff professionalism

The Oban Times - - Letters -

Sir, Having recently attended Lorn and the Islands Hospital in Oban, we continue to be impressed by the professionalism, courtesy and dedication of its staff.

We have an excellent resource here and, despite budgetary and logistical constraints, receiver a first- class service.

So we are dismayed to see the hospital being disparaged and criticised regularly and are concerned that this will adversely affect morale and may discourage potential applicants from coming to work here. Despite this, the staff remain highly motivated.

The management is trying hard to inform people about changes and developments.

Unfortunately, at a poorly attended meeting convened for this purpose on June 13, there were probably more representatives from the NHS and volunteer groups than there were from the public.

We should celebrate what we have and accept that there may be necessary changes in the future. We have been assured there will always be an Oban hospital and should be very glad this is the case. Stuart and Ann Reid, Clachan Seil.
