ONE of the finest private islands in northern Europe is up for sale for the first time in 70 years.

For the asking price of £4.25 million, Ulva offers a unique combination of peace and privacy while being easily accessible by boat from the nearby Isle of Mull.

The second largest island of the Inner Hebrides, Ulva extends to approximately 4,583 acres and is approximately 7.5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide and its highest point is 313m above sea level at the summit of Beinn Chreagach.

The main residence, Ulva House, is a grade B-listed property built in the neo- classical revival style. It was built in 1950 to replace a previous property destroyed by fire.

The island also includes a Telford designed church, a small restaurant and tea room, a restored blackhouse and nine other residences, ranging from traditional bothies to a sporting lodge.

Ulva has incredible wildlife, birdlife and sea life, and is home to 123 different bird species, including the white-tailed sea eagle. Minke whales, porpoises and dolphins are among the sealife that can be found around Ulva.

Ulva is situated just off the mainland and is accessed across the Sound of Ulva (a few hundred metres) from the settlement of Ulva Ferry on Mull to the pier on the Ulva.

The sale includes the mansion.
