-

A 32-YEAR- OLD man has been imprisoned for 12 months after being caught with just under 18 grams of heroin.

David Ogilvie, a prisoner in Greenock, appeared in front of Oban Sheriff Court on Tuesday July 18, where he pleaded guilty after police found him with 17.7 grams of the class-A drug.

Police attended his home on April 9 this year, before taking him to the Lorn and the Islands Hospital, where they discovered the drugs, which had a value of between £ 800 and £1,200.

Police also found £ 400 at his home, which was confiscated by the court.

Sheriff Patrick Hughes described the substance as the most toxic of all drugs, leaving him with no option but to issue a custodial sentence.
