Man found with 17g of heroin

A 32-YEAR- OLD man has been im­pris­oned for 12 months after be­ing caught with just un­der 18 grams of heroin.

David Ogilvie, a pris­oner in Greenock, ap­peared in front of Oban Sher­iff Court on Tues­day July 18, where he pleaded guilty after po­lice found him with 17.7 grams of the class-A drug.

Po­lice at­tended his home on April 9 this year, be­fore tak­ing him to the Lorn and the Is­lands Hospi­tal, where they dis­cov­ered the drugs, which had a value of be­tween £ 800 and £1,200.

Po­lice also found £ 400 at his home, which was con­fis­cated by the court.

Sher­iff Patrick Hughes de­scribed the sub­stance as the most toxic of all drugs, leav­ing him with no op­tion but to is­sue a cus­to­dial sen­tence.
