Young farm­ers do­nate to Oban char­i­ties

THE North Ar­gyll Young Farm­ers’ Club has cho­sen Oban Hos­pice and Oban Mul­ti­ple Sclero­sis Ther­apy Cen­tre to re­ceive cheques for £ 300.

The money was raised dur­ing fundrais­ing events held over the past year.

The club wishes to thank the Falls of Lora Ho­tel for the reg­u­lar use of a meet­ing room and the many other lo­cal busi­ness and in­di­vid­u­als who have helped and who of­fer con­tin­ued sup­port.

The next fundraiser is the Lorn Show Dance in the Vic­tory Hall, Ben­der­loch, on Au­gust 5.

Money raised on that night will go to cys­tic fi­bro­sis, and tick­ets are avail­able at Oban Ve­teri­nary Surgery and at the Young Farm­ers stall at the Lorn Agri­cul­tural Show on Au­gust 5, where new mem­bers can have a chat with the team about join­ing.

Beth Men­zies of Cor­ry­lorn Farm, along with some other mem­bers of Ar­gyll Young Farm­ers’ Club, pre­sented Fiona Young with a cheque for Oban MS Ther­apy Cen­tre.

Fiona was in­vited to re­ceive the cheque as a founder mem­ber of the Oban MS Cen­tre, which started in 1989, where she was an op­er­a­tor and lat­terly man­ager.

Mar­garet Ma­cLean, vice-chair­woman of Oban Hos­pice and chair­per­son of the Friends of Oban Hos­pice, along with John Macken­zie, board mem­ber, ac­cepted a cheque from young farm­ers’ chair­per­son Niall Men­zies at the Falls of Lora Ho­tel Con­nel on Fri­day July 21.
