Young farmers donate to Oban charities
THE North Argyll Young Farmers’ Club has chosen Oban Hospice and Oban Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre to receive cheques for £ 300.
The money was raised during fundraising events held over the past year.
The club wishes to thank the Falls of Lora Hotel for the regular use of a meeting room and the many other local business and individuals who have helped and who offer continued support.
The next fundraiser is the Lorn Show Dance in the Victory Hall, Benderloch, on August 5.
Money raised on that night will go to cystic fibrosis, and tickets are available at Oban Veterinary Surgery and at the Young Farmers stall at the Lorn Agricultural Show on August 5, where new members can have a chat with the team about joining.
Beth Menzies of Corrylorn Farm, along with some other members of Argyll Young Farmers’ Club, presented Fiona Young with a cheque for Oban MS Therapy Centre.
Fiona was invited to receive the cheque as a founder member of the Oban MS Centre, which started in 1989, where she was an operator and latterly manager.
Margaret MacLean, vice-chairwoman of Oban Hospice and chairperson of the Friends of Oban Hospice, along with John Mackenzie, board member, accepted a cheque from young farmers’ chairperson Niall Menzies at the Falls of Lora Hotel Connel on Friday July 21.
