With 2017 set to see in­te­rior de­sign ser­vices in­creas­ingly utilised by self-builders, the ex­perts at Alexan­der James In­te­rior Me­sign have com­piled a list of the top 10 in­te­rior de­sign trends for 2017. 1. Nat­u­ral tex­tures in home ac­ces­sories

Nat­u­ral tex­tures have come back with a vengeance in 2017 - think matte glazed din­ner­ware, wooden serv­ing plat­ters and beau­ti­ful earth­en­ware bowls.

2. Rough, nat­u­ral woods

Woods are big busi­ness this year. From floor­boards to ta­bles to shut­ters, for­get highly pol­ished gloss - a nat­u­ral fin­ish is the only way to go.

3. Ce­ramic table lights

A big trend for 2017 is ce­ramic table lights. Again in­spired by na­ture, they fea­ture del­i­cate tones and pat­tern­ing, with greys, light browns and pinks blend­ing beau­ti­fully into the other nat­u­ral ma­te­ri­als.

4. Bold trim­mings

When it comes to soft fur­nish­ings, bold trim­mings both com­ple­ment and con­trast the nat­u­ral feel of the home this year.

5. Hand-painted style wallpapers

Rugs are one way to make a state­ment in 2017. Pat­terns that pick up on the pas­tel tones and nat­u­ral hues of other ob­jects, while also stand­ing out as a cen­tre­piece, are the way for­ward.
