IF YOU go down to the woods to­day, you’re sure of a big sur­prise – but there are no bears at Glencoe, just the chance to un­cover se­cret treasure. Join Na­tional Trust for Scot­land Rangers ev­ery Wed­nes­day in July and Au­gust from 10.30am on a fam­ily treasure ad­ven­ture to ex­plore Glencoe’s wood­land trails and dis­cover hid­den treasure.

Young treasure hun­ters will crack clues as they fol­low the trail, learn­ing use­ful nav­i­ga­tion skills and com­plet­ing chal­lenges along the way. From tree rub­bings to pond dip­ping, build­ing dens to iden­ti­fy­ing flora and fauna, it’s a fan­tas­tic, fun chance for young peo­ple to get out and con­nect with the nat­u­ral world.

For more in­for­ma­tion about sum­mer events at Glencoe & Dal­ness – and other Na­tional Trust for Scot­land prop­er­ties – visit www.nts.org. uk FOL­LOW­ING the suc­cess of the Hous­ing Op­tions Scot­land sum­mer tour last year, the or­gan­i­sa­tion will be hit­ting the road again to pro­vide hous­ing in­for­ma­tion and ad­vice events for dis­abled peo­ple, older peo­ple, dis­abled vet­er­ans and those who sup­port them. The sixth stop on the tour is Caol Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, Glenk­ingle Street, Caol, Fort Wil­liam, on Au­gust 3 from 10am to 3pm.

At this free drop-in event, peo­ple will get the op­por­tu­nity to speak to Hous­ing Op­tions Scot­land staff about their hous­ing is­sues, get ad­vice and lis­ten to talks about hous­ing. There will also be in­for­ma­tion stalls from lo­cal and na­tional or­gan­i­sa­tions which work with dis­abled peo­ple, older peo­ple and dis­abled vet­er­ans. EIGHT of Scot­land’s finest young folk mu­si­cians are tour­ing their home towns and have recorded an al­bum to­gether thanks to the Tra­di­tional Mu­sic and Song As­so­ci­a­tion of Scot­land.

The fi­nal­ists and win­ner of the BBC Ra­dio Scot­land Young Tra­di­tional Mu­si­cian of the Year Com­pe­ti­tion (2016) started the tour in He­lens­burgh in May. The group will be at The Nevis Cen­tre on Tues­day Au­gust 1. Tick­ets are avail­able from www.nevis­cen­tre.co.uk
