A CLANS­MAN who flew in for this month’s Clan Ranald Gath­er­ing at the Ari­saig Games gen­er­ously do­nated a trip in a light air­craft as a prize for the event’s raf­fle.

This year’s games took place yes­ter­day (July 26) at Traigh Farm, Ari­saig, and the flight prize was due to be drawn dur­ing the event.

Fraser MacDougall, trea­surer of Ari­saig Games, told the Lochaber Times: ‘ What an ex­cel­lent ex­pe­ri­ence and a fan­tas­tic gift from Mr MacDon­ald. We are im­mensely grate­ful to him.’

The games were pre­ceded on Tues­day evening by a cèilidh bar­be­cue on the games field. There was a vil­lage pa­rade through Ari­saig at 10.15am on games morn­ing and a ceilidh dance in Ast­ley Hall, Ari­saig, in the evening.

Mu­sic this year was pro­vided by Trail West, with the Lochaber Ceilidh Trail­ers play­ing on Tues­day night.

The games’ main spon­sor was Ard­na­mur­chan Dis­tillery and events in­cluded a va­ri­ety of High­land Games con­tests. Full games re­port next week.
