THE OSPREY chick at Loch Arkaig has begun to stretch its wings.
Nicknamed ‘Boblet’ by online osprey fans from around the world, the chick is just a month old.
Woodland Trust Scotland and local partners Arkaig Community Forest bought Loch Arkaig pine forest earlier this year.
The nest is fitted with a camera, thanks to support from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
While only tentatively flapping its wings at the moment, it won’t be long before this chick fledges and flies off to the warmer climes of Africa for the winter.
The live feed page from the camera has attracted a community of avid osprey watchers from just the other side of the loch to the other side of the globe.
Woodland Trust Scotland staff named the adult birds Louis and Aila, but it was page commentators that arrived at ‘Boblet’, reflecting the bobble-stage of a young chick.
