Is it legal to impose parking fines?
Sir, I think Argyll and Bute Council is committing an offence in taking money from people in parking fines, when it does not provide them with the means to pay for the ticket in the first place.
I got a ticket as I couldn’t get the machine to accept my two £1 coins, so I left a note explaining, with my two coins, visible on the dashboard, to show that I had tried to pay, yet still a hard-hearted warden gave me a ticket.
I will see what the response is from Kilmory as I wrote to object and explain. But the council should not have meters that don’t take the currency of the country. Mary Brown, by email.
