Local B&Bs celebrate over £500,000 bookings
The Fort William Accommodation Marketing Group (FWAMG) is delighted to announce £543k of locally generated, commission free, online bookings to June 2017. FWAMG was started in 2011 by 8 local B&Bs that recognised working together had to be the best way forward for the many independent accommodation businesses in the town.
The group, now with 37 members, share a website at www.fortwilliam-guesthouse.com from which, since May 2013, over 4,000 separate bookings have been directly received (1,600 in the last year alone). High Google rankings, referrals, online availability, online booking and group search facilities now make the site “the place to go” for many of our visitors looking for accommodation in the area. The popularity of the site and the value of bookings continues to grow year on year.
In a local accommodation market becoming dominated by the global Online Travel Agents (OTAs) who demand high commissions and impose increasingly restrictive policies, FWAMG helps members to keep control of their own booking terms and conditions, build direct relationships with their own guests and to retain significantly more margin within their own business.
Working together doesn’t stop there though, members and local suppliers all benefit from a series of co-operative arrangements between the group and other local businesses in the Lochaber area. Long standing agreements providing preferential pricing for members operate side by side with co-operative marketing arrangements with local activity providers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all, of the many local businesses who have supported and helped the group become established. There is not enough space to mention everyone but we are very grateful to all of you.
The group is open to all B&Bs and Guesthouses in the Fort William and Glen Spean area. For more information please email email@example.com.
