Stepping out for charity funds
FIVE children joined 22 walkers on a gruelling 15-mile hike along Loch Ness for the isle of Luing’s annual sponsored walk for Cancer Research UK.
Walkers from Luing, Seil, Oban, Liverpool and Dublin hiked the high road from Invermoriston to Drumnadrochit, including Ranald, aged five, and his brothers Robert and Richard Housley also Elkie and Harris Cargill - all primary school children.
Organiser John Blackwell BEM of Black- mill Bay, Luing, said there was no final figure yet, but the event is expected to raise around £ 3,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Mr Blackwell said: ‘The weather on the day was unusually kind for this summer allowing the scenery to be enjoyed. Happy memories were made on the day for all, despite the absence of Nessie the Loch Ness Monster.’
John thanks everyone who took part and looks forward to seeing them at next year’s event.
