Step­ping out for char­ity funds

FIVE chil­dren joined 22 walk­ers on a gru­elling 15-mile hike along Loch Ness for the isle of Lu­ing’s an­nual spon­sored walk for Cancer Re­search UK.

Walk­ers from Lu­ing, Seil, Oban, Liver­pool and Dublin hiked the high road from In­ver­moris­ton to Drum­nadro­chit, in­clud­ing Ranald, aged five, and his broth­ers Robert and Richard Hous­ley also Elkie and Har­ris Cargill - all pri­mary school chil­dren.

Or­gan­iser John Black­well BEM of Black- mill Bay, Lu­ing, said there was no fi­nal fig­ure yet, but the event is ex­pected to raise around £ 3,000 for Cancer Re­search UK.

Mr Black­well said: ‘The weather on the day was un­usu­ally kind for this sum­mer al­low­ing the scenery to be en­joyed. Happy mem­o­ries were made on the day for all, de­spite the ab­sence of Nessie the Loch Ness Mon­ster.’

John thanks ev­ery­one who took part and looks for­ward to see­ing them at next year’s event.
