Lochaber’s only theatre company puts on Fringe event
Highlands. Hogamany. Three generations of men. The whisky should probably have stayed in the cupboard.
Bright Productions are Lochaber’s only theatre company and they are now taking their new play The Recovery Version to the Edinburgh Fringe but they had three local dates before setting off.
They performed in Ballachulish Village Hall on July 29, Victory Hall on July 31 and the Ben Nevis Distillery on August 1.
There was a short post show talk where audiences could chat with the cast and crew. And there was even be a nip of whisky.
Three pupils from Kinlochleven High School joined them on this project.
Fiona Janzen, Holly Baldwin and James Ramsay shared the role of Jack, a 12-year- old boy, and will be part of the world’s biggest arts festival.
Other young people have been involved with the development of the play. S3 pupils have been testing and staging script and senior pupils have been helping designer and teacher Graeme Martin to create the set.
The play is written by local playwright Ilona Munro, and the music is by Paul Hornby-Battrick and Chaz Stewart.
