AL­LAN McKie won the Cham­pi­onship at Glen­cruit­ten last week­end with scores of 65, 70, to add to his first two rounds, mak­ing a to­tal of 270. Phillip Mur­phy was run­ner up with a to­tal of 272. Gra­ham MacColl won the Ge­orge Smith Tro­phy with net scores of 61, 65 =126. Run­ner-up was Don­ald McGill with net scores of 59, 68 = 127. On Satur­day the Wil­son Cup and Bri­tan­nia Cup Fi­nal takes place fol­lowed by the Glen­cruit­ten Open the fol­low­ing Satur­day.


CON­GRAT­U­LA­TIONS to ‘The Putting Kings’ from Lochgilp­head who won the 3-Man stable­ford at a sun­soaked Dal­mally on July 23 in a closely- con­tested Open.

A ter­rific net birdie 3 on the fi­nal hole by Grant Mac­Dougall saw the mid-Ar­gyll team of Grant, Kenny Ma­cAulay and David Sin­clair pip the ‘Killin Ex­iles’ by a sin­gle point, 84 to 83, to claim the sil­ver­ware.

The Ex­iles com­prised golf­ing nomads, Brian Stock (Cri­eff), Ge­orge Ferguson (Cardross) and John MacIl­roy (Ken­more).

In third place were home team ‘Two Drams and a Driver’ aka Graeme and Arik MacKech­nie and James MacMil­lan, who just squeezed ‘Tony and Two Golfers’, Tony Gra­ham (Dal­mally), Jack and Stan Mar­shall (Cardross and Dun­blane) into fourth space by a sin­gle point on 82 to 81.
