Fin­lay Wild makes a record fin­ish in Aonach Mòr race

THERE was a good turn out of 42 run­ners for the Aonach Mor Up­hill Run­ning Race.

Fin­lay Wild, just back from Switzer­land, was in great form and fin­ished first in a record time of 27 min­utes and 54 sec­onds. Next in was lo­cal run­ner John Yell closely fol­lowed by High­land Hill Run­ner’s Gavin White­side.

Diana MacDon­ald from High­land Hill Run­ners was a clear win­ner of the ladies race in 35 min­utes and 54 sec­onds. Lyn­d­sey Shaw had a great run fin­ish­ing sec­ond place in 40 min­utes and three sec­onds and just ahead of team-mate Sarah MacDon­ald.

Other no­table per­for­mances in­cluded Hughie Mack­in­tosh (Male Vet 50) fin­ish­ing in fourth place over­all in 33 min­utes and four sec­onds. Lochaber Ath­letic Club’s Julie Cor­ner and new­comer Char­lotte Cant had a good bat­tle right to the fin­ish line. Vis­i­tor Ray Ro­nan, on hol­i­day from Ire­land had a good run and so too did vis­i­tor Neil Walker com­plet­ing his first hill race.

A spokesper­son from Off Beat Bikes said: ‘It was good to see some new faces to the Lochaber hill run­ning com­pe­ti­tions. Well done to Jamie Maxwell, Don­nie Lamont, Liam Jor­dan, James Ball and Mark McMir­ren.

‘A big thanks to helpers Bruce Davies, Dave Parfait, Maisie Gor­man and Ne­vis Range for their help.’

The next Aonach Mor Up­hill Run­ning Race is on Wed­nes­day Au­gust 9. Reg­is­tra­tion in the Pine­martin Cafe from 6pm for a 7pm start.
