Finlay Wild makes a record finish in Aonach Mòr race
THERE was a good turn out of 42 runners for the Aonach Mor Uphill Running Race.
Finlay Wild, just back from Switzerland, was in great form and finished first in a record time of 27 minutes and 54 seconds. Next in was local runner John Yell closely followed by Highland Hill Runner’s Gavin Whiteside.
Diana MacDonald from Highland Hill Runners was a clear winner of the ladies race in 35 minutes and 54 seconds. Lyndsey Shaw had a great run finishing second place in 40 minutes and three seconds and just ahead of team-mate Sarah MacDonald.
Other notable performances included Hughie Mackintosh (Male Vet 50) finishing in fourth place overall in 33 minutes and four seconds. Lochaber Athletic Club’s Julie Corner and newcomer Charlotte Cant had a good battle right to the finish line. Visitor Ray Ronan, on holiday from Ireland had a good run and so too did visitor Neil Walker completing his first hill race.

The next Aonach Mor Uphill Running Race is on Wednesday August 9. Registration in the Pinemartin Cafe from 6pm for a 7pm start.
