Argyll and Bute groups success at Beautiful Scotland event
ORGANISATIONS in Argyll and Bute have been recognised for their efforts to help the environment.
Blairmore Village Trust, Dunoon, and Bute in Bloom both picked up a silver gilt medal certificate in the Coastal Town category.
First-time entrant Blairmore Village Trust received the accolade for improving the village for both residents and visitors.
The group was also presented with a Keep Scotland Beautiful Award.
The competition, which is run in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society, brings communities together to help clean up and beautify the places that matter to them - and recognises the efforts of volunteers across Scotland as they work to enhance their own community.
The ceremony is organised by the environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.
Carole Noble, operations director of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: ‘Beautiful Scotland provides the opportunity for Scotland to celebrate the outstanding achievements of volunteer groups across the country and recognises the significant contribution they make in helping to improve our local environmental quality.
‘Argyll and Bute volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that the local spaces and places that they treasure are maintained to excellent standards. I would like to commend them on their efforts.’
