Vandals wreck Town Team hanging baskets

The Oban Times - - NEWS -

MEMBERS of Fort William Town Team have voiced their frustration at vandals who damaged hanging flower baskets in High Street.

The baskets, paid for by the group with the help of sponsors, were placed on lamp-posts along the High Street to brighten up the area.

After a meeting this week, a Town Team representative said: ‘After the High Street looking fantastic all summer we now have two empty spaces where hanging baskets once looked beautiful.

‘These baskets belong to local businesses who have spent their hard-earned money helping us improve Fort William for everyone.

‘The vandalism of the baskets only gave the person responsible a short amount of pleasure playing football with them in the road.

‘When they were left alone to grow and bloom they gave thousands of people enjoyment every day.

‘We are all extremely disappointed and hope the rest of the High Street display survives until the end of the season.’
