Suther­land Cup takes cen­tre stage this week­end

THE RE-SCHED­ULED Aberdein Con­si­dine Suther­land Cup Fi­nal be­tween Lochside Rovers and the Kin­gussie sec­ond team takes place at An Aird, Fort Wil­liam, this Satur­day with a 3pm throw-up.

The fi­nal was orig­i­nally to take place in late July but was post­poned be­cause of an un­playable field.

With rain fore­cast this week, Camanachd As­so­ci­a­tion of­fi­cials will mon­i­tor play­ing con­di­tions and a change of venue is an op­tion open to them should con­di­tions de­te­ri­o­rate.

Lochside Rovers beat the Beauly sec­ond team, the Kyles Ath­letic re­serves, the Bute colts and the Glenurquhart sec­ond team on their route to the fi­nal. Kin­gussie knocked out the Skye Camanachd colts, the Aber­dour sec­onds, the Fort Wil­liam re­serves and hold­ers New­ton­more re­serves to book their fi­nal spot.

Lochside Rovers man­ager Gareth Evans will look to Lewis Buchanan and Craig MacDougall up front and de­fend­ers Craig Eas­ton and Daniel Sloss as well as Daniel MacCuish, if they are to take the tro­phy to Oban.

James Fal­coner, Roddy Young, Ruar­idh An­der­son and Alexan­der Michie will be key players for Kin­gussie boss Ally MacLeod as the 2016 beaten fi­nal­ists look to go one bet­ter this year. Ref­eree on Satur­day is Iain Kennedy.
