Two projects are up for awards

TWO Ar­gyll and Bute projects fea­ture among the fi­nal­ists in a na­tional awards cer­e­mony to recog­nise the work be­ing done to bring pri­vately-owned empty homes back into use.

The pro­ject to trans­form a for­mer po­lice sta­tion in Port Ellen on Is­lay into af­ford­able hous­ing for young peo­ple has been short­listed in the Out­stand­ing Pro­ject cat­e­gory at the How­dens Scot­tish Empty Homes Cham­pion of the Year Awards 2017.

And Ar­gyll and Bute Coun­cil’s empty homes of­fi­cer Kelly Ferns and hous­ing im­prove­ment of­fi­cer Karen Cox have been short­listed in the Best Be­fore and Af­ter Pho­to­graphs cat­e­gory for images of work done to up­grade pri­vate flats in Ge­orge Street, Oban.
