Yeovil stun New­port in six- goal romp

Yeovil ended New­port’s win­ning run in em­phatic fash­ion with a stun­ning 6- 0 win at Rod­ney Pa­rade. The hosts had won four in a row and were un­beaten in six but were taken apart, drop­ping to third in the ta­ble and lift­ing Yeovil to fifth.

The visi­tors took the lead mid­way through the first half as Yoann Arquin pow­ered Jordan Green’s cross home and Green picked out the bot­tom cor­ner to dou­ble their score seven min­utes be­fore the break. Dial­lang Jaiyes­imi’s close- range header on the stroke of half- time made it 3- 0, while Green added his sec­ond three min­utes into the sec­ond half. Olufela Olo­mola’s strike and Carl Dickinson’s free- kick made it six be­fore Rob­bie Will­mott was sent off for the hosts.

Lead­ers Lin­coln re­turned to win­ning ways to open up a three­p­oint gap at the top of the ta­ble af­ter a nar­row 2- 1 away vic­tory over strug­gling Mac­cles­field. Ex­eter leapfrogged New­port into sec­ond thanks to a 2-1 win at Mans­field, while bot­tom side Notts County had to set­tle for a point af­ter three times go­ing ahead at home to midtable Steve­nage.
