Cold Feet ITV, 9pm

The Observer - The New Review - - FRIDAY 22 -

Following Matt’s revelation about Olivia’s pregnancy last week, Cold Feet works its old magic as it turns a domestic crisis into an entertaining comedy drama that leaves you amused, moved and flabbergasted. It’s particularly ironic for Adam (James Nesbitt), who has only just begun planning a family with Tina (Leanne Best), but he wants Matt (Ceallach Spellman) to do the right thing, as does Karen (Hermione Norris, above, right), with regard to Olivia (Daisy Edgar-Jones, above, left). And what precisely is the right thing? You’ll have to wait and see. Elsewhere, following a hairraising few moments, David’s abduction results in an offer he can’t refuse (but not of the sort you may be expecting); it’s eyes down for bingo-caller Pete at the care home; Karen’s star author finally comes to heel; and Jenny’s mum goes missing. Possibly the most heartrending, tearjerking episode to date. Mike Bradley
