Known as the It Girl, she reg­u­larly hit the head­lines thanks to her he­do­nis­tic life­style. Her an­tics came to a head in 1999, the year she was first treated for drug ad­dic­tion. She once said she spent £35,000 on re­hab.

But af­ter years of sub­stance abuse, her nose sep­tum had col­lapsed, forc­ing her to un­dergo £6,000 worth of cos­metic surgery.

Tara’s royal con­nec­tions had made her fas­ci­nat­ing to the pub­lic even with­out the drug prob­lem.

TPT, as she be­came known, was born into a fam­ily of wealthy landown­ers and grew up on a 1,200-acre es­tate in Hamp­shire.

Her par­ents – for­mer Olympic skier Charles and Patti – of­ten en­ter­tained roy­als at home.

The fam­ily hol­i­dayed with Prince Charles, who was Tara’s god­fa­ther, and Princes Wil­liam and Harry were her child­hood com­pan­ions on the ski slopes.
