Mway fuel cost rip-off
FAMILIES on a half-term car outing this month will pay up to 16p a litre more to fill up on motorways.
Service stations are charging as much as 136.9p a litre for petrol compared with an average 120.11p away from the motorways.
Petrol cost 132.9p a litre at Chieveley services on the M4 near Newbury, Berks, while Cherwell Valley services on the M40 at Bicester, Oxon, charged 135.9p a litre.
Watford Gap services on the M1 has been charging 136.9p a litre.
RAC spokesman Rod Dennis said: “It can make sense to stop at a fuel station off the motorway.
“You could be saving around £9 per fill-up.”
