Hello, me old China
A CHINESE soldier stuck in India for 54 years has finally returned home.
Wang Qi, 77, was held in January 1963 after straying over the Indian border.
He spent six years in jail before being released. But without documents allowing him to leave India he settled in Madhya Pradesh in 1969 – and stayed there.
Wang married in 1975 and had three children before diplomats were alerted and issued a passport. His son Vishnu, 35, said: “Life has been difficult for him.”
Wang and Vishnu flew from Delhi to Beijing and were yesterday heading to his home city of Xianyang.
His wife stayed in India and it is not known if she will join Wang later.
