IF you can­not bear the sound of some­one else eat­ing, breath­ing or click­ing a pen you may have a con­di­tion called miso­pho­nia.

Neu­ro­sci­en­tists at New­cas­tle University did MRI scans on peo­ple whose hearts raced on hear­ing such noises and dis­cov­ered their brain is wired dif­fer­ently.

Dr Sukhbinder Ku­mar said: “For the first time we have demon­strated a dif­fer­ence in brain struc­ture and func­tion in suf­fer­ers.”
