Terror fund tops £5m

-

THE We Love Manchester Emergency Fund for victims of the attack has so far raised £5million... and more is pouring in.

Big names to donate include musicians Liam Gallagher and Eminem as well as Manchester United and Manchester City, which have pledged £1million.

But website JustGiving, where money is being pledged, yesterday “quarantined” 200 fundraising pages over fears fraudsters are launching fake appeals.

A JustGiving spokesman said it plans to pass money in quarantined accounts directly to victims. He added: “None of this will be released until we are satisfied.”

Meanwhile the Charity Commission took the unusual step of directing the public towards the We Love Manchester appeal rather than giving elsewhere.

Launched by Manchester city council, the British Red Cross and the Manchester Evening News, it is backed by big firms. The Co-op will donate profits from cut flower sales in Manchester city centre stores.
