Life saver VAT storm
DENTISTS have blasted Tory ministers for charging 20 per cent VAT on lifesaving defibrillators.
The UK’s 6,000 dental practices have agreed to put in the £ 1,000 devices at their own expense in case a patient has a heart attack.
The British Dental Association said: “Foods that could contribute to having a heart attack, such as pies, are VAT-exempt.
“Yet the tax is charged on a machine that saves the lives of heart attack victims. It’s completely illogical.”
