PC’s close shave case

- By Glyn Bellis

A POLICEMAN who walked out of a shop with a £72 bottle of aftershave he hadn’t paid for has been cleared of theft.

PC Mohammed Lachiri, 49, blamed “human error” for taking the Giorgio Armani scent from a Debenhams store.

A court heard how the officer, who is also an imam, was rushing home for his regular sunset prayers when he forgot he was holding the bottle.

He was approached by security after leaving the store in Llandudno, Conwy, in December.

An offer to pay was refused by Debenhams security officers.

A jury at Caernarfon crown court found Lachiri, of Prestayn, Denbighshire, not guilty of stealing the aftershave.
