7 held over fire deaths

SEVEN boys have been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of start­ing a fire at an Is­lamic board­ing school in Malaysia that killed 23 peo­ple.

The boys, aged 11 to 18, al­legedly sparked the blaze af­ter stu­dents teased them.

Speak­ing i n Kuala Lumpur, po­lice chief Amar Singh said six of the boys held had tested pos­i­tive for drugs but no fur­ther de­tails were given.

Two adults and 21 teenagers died in the blaze. Of­fi­cials said the school had no fire safety per­mit.
