FOR­MER world heavy­weight champ Frank Bruno is tak­ing the fight to men­tal ill­ness with a new char­ity.

The Frank Bruno Foun­da­tion pro­motes non­con­tact box­ing to com­bat de­pres­sion and bipo­lar dis­or­der – the con­di­tion he has bat­tled for years.

Dur­ing a launch event at Champ­neys Health Spa in Tring, Herts, Frank, 54, said: “The aim is to bring healthy body and mind ap­proaches to­gether to pro­vide a holis­tic and en­joy­able ap­proach to sup­port­ing peo­ple with men­tal health prob­lems.”

A host of fans and celebs such as Ian Wright and Ricky Hat­ton at­tended and raised thou­sands of pounds.

Champ­neys owner and event spon­sor Stephen Pur­dew added: “Frank is as big a cham­pion in­side the ring as he was out of it.”
