JIM BACKS PTSD FIGHT Comedian praises Sunday People campaign

COMEDIAN Jim Davidson has praised the Sunday People’s PTSD campaign.

Speaking at the Tory Party conference, Jim, 63, said: “You’re a paper for the people and for you to take on this campaign for PTSD is brilliant.”

He was in Manchester this week promoting charity Care After Combat, for veterans in the criminal justice system.

“We try to get them not to reoffend,” he said. “Veterans I’ve met with PTSD suffer terribly. There’s a guy working for us and he suddenly starts to shake. And he drifts back off into this horrifying thing he lived through.

“It’s very hard to treat and diagnose, and affects people in so many different ways.”

Care After Combat has recently teamed up with the NHS in the Midlands. And he believesve­s it could be rolled out nationally. ally.

Jim, who has entertaine­dd our troops abroad, added: “If somemeone has PTSD their doctor and the NHS should be able to helpelp them. It takes care of mental tal health. That’s where the suppport should go.” Nearly 400 service personnnel committed suicidee between 1995 and 2014.

The Sunday People e wants PTSD treatment t overhauled, including ministers to take action, an independen­t inquiry and more NHS cash.
