£2m royal health gift

ROY­ALS Wil­liam, Harry and Kate are giv­ing £ 2mil­lion to an on­line scheme to boost Bri­tain’s men­tal health.

The grant from their c har­ity t he Roy a l Foun­da­tion will es­tab­lish the ini­tia­tive.

Prince Wil­liam said: “We’ve got to some­how catch peo­ple in their daily life to bring them into the fold and give them the help they need.”

It is ex­pected to be up and run­ning by Jan­uary.

The roy­als’ or­gan­i­sa­tion Heads To­gether found young peo­ple are more l i kely t o use tech­nol­ogy to have con­ver­sa­tions about men­tal health.

The princes’ moves to lift the stigma of men­tal health has been work­ing, a YouGov study of 14,000 peo­ple seemed to show.

It found in Fe­bru­ary 45 per cent of men and 52 per cent of women dis­cussed their men­tal health. By May it was 60 and 61 per cent.

Wil­liam ques­tioned how peo­ple who have been in care or had bad ex­pe­ri­ences at young ages could be reached.

Heads To­gether will pay spe­cial at­ten­tion to men, the work­place and the mil­i­tary in the

near fu­ture.
