Fake ID terror fears We expose documents scam used by bombers

- By Scott Hesketh

BOGUS utility bills used to create fake identities can be bought online for less than £4, a Sunday People investigation can reveal.

The scam allows terrorists and other criminals to open bank accounts, get credit, hire vehicles and take out loans under a cloak of secrecy. We saw British Gas bills for the equivalent of £3.70 in bitcoin and UK driving licences for £7.50 on the internet’s dark web.

Another site offered fake driving licences produced on HD printers and boasted: “We offer features such as barcodes, magnetic stripes, smart chips and holographic overlays”.

Identity theft was a key part of the planning for the Brussels and Paris terror attacks. Only last month a Dublin-based Algerian was accused of selling bogus papers to IS fanatics in the UK.

Cybercrime expert Robert Hamadi said: “Once you’ve got a driving licence, ID theft becomes straightforward.” losing your hair wasn’t so scary.” After chemo, Seren will have tumours in her kidneys and lung removed. The growths have already shrunk by 80 per cent. And last week she visited classmates and whipped off her headscarf to show them her bald head. Jenny said: “She’s an incredible little girl with such spirit.” For more information on the campaign see bravetheshave.org.uk.
