Slimy Shapps must shut it
THERESA May’s car-crash conference speech was bumclenchingly awful, but I really did admire her for getting through it. I also thought – naively – that loyal colleagues would circle the wagons around the PM until she go got her act together. Instead they’re plotting to shaft her. Former Tory party chairman Grant Shapps, p pictured left, claims 30 M MPs and one or two Cabin Cabinet ministers now want her out. “The writing is on the wall for May,” he says, suggesting her premiership is collapsing like the slogan behind her podium. I’m no fan of Mrs May but Shapps seems a right slippery toad to me. I hope she takes inspiration from that writing on the wall too – and tells him to f off.
