Despite the plan, Groves will sleep in his own bed during this camp up until the night before the fight – providing young son Teddy doesn’t kick him out.

Groves admits he is still haunted by his fight with Eduard Gutknecht last November, a clash which left the German with a bleed on the brain that has left it “almost completely damaged”, according to the fighter’s wife.

“I want to clear the mortgage, maybe upgrade the car, go on holiday, a couple of other things, put some money aside for the kids and their kids, and then if I run out of motivation we will go from there.”
