BOSSES at a scandal-hit NHS trust have been slammed for refusing to tell the public about potential fatal blunders.
North Middlesex Hospital was rocked by nearly 300 unexplained deaths in two years and the Sunday People has revealed failings involving new mums and babies.
But the trust has stopped giving details of serious injuries and deaths in reports to its public monthly board meetings.
Shadow health minister Justin Madders said: “Trusts must be honest about their mistakes. The People is to be congratulated on its award-winning campaign to expose the failings of North Middlesex Hospital.”
At a board meeting on Thursday, trust chief executive Sir David Sloman refused to answer questions on whether he had decided to censor the information. Chair Dusty Amroliwala said the decision was made by their temporary medical director.
A spokesman for the hospital said: “We are committed to being an open and transparent organisation.”
