MORE YOUNG LIONS GET CALL

- Simon Mullock

by GARETH SOUTHGATE is set to call up another three of England’s kids to face the boys from Brazil. Southgate has brought Manchester City keeper Angus Gunn (left) into the squad for Tuesday night’s prestige Wembley friendly. Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke and Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook are likely to follow. All three are uncapped at senior level – but the England boss is looking to give youth a chance in the run-up to next summer’s World Cup. He gave debuts to Ruben Loftus- Cheek, Jordan Pickford, Tammy Abraham and Joe Gomez against Germany.

Solanke, like Loftus-Cheek and Abraham, is a product of Chelsea’s youth system. He joined Liverpool in the summer after becoming frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities.

Bournemouth bought Cook from Leeds for £6million in the summer of 2016, with Leeds due another £1m if the Under-20s World Cup winner makes his full bow.

Gunn, son of former Scotland keeper Bryan Gunn, is on loan at Norwich. He was promoted to England’s senior squad after Stoke’s Jack Butland broke a finger.
