Call to put off Brexit

THERESA May is being told by MPs that she should postpone Brexit.

Under Article 50, which triggered the countdown to Brexit, the UK is due to leave the EU at 11pm on March 29 next year.

But the Commons Brexit Committee says in a report published today that the PM is running out of time to negotiate a deal and should consider extending the deadline Article 50.

Chairman Hilary Benn said: “We are now at a critical stage with just seven months left to reach agreement on a whole host of highly complex issues.”

But furious Brexiteer MPs on the committee have produced their own report saying there should be no delay.
