Women at Iran footie
IRAN let hundreds of women attend the Asian Champions League final in Tehran yesterday.
The move was seen as a possible step to ending the country’s decades-old exclusion of females from top football matches.
Fans at Azadi Stadium to see Persepolis play Japan’s Kashima Antlers cheered as the women entered stands set aside for them, said to seat 850.
The game was a goalless draw with the Antlers winning 2-0 on aggregate.
