The Diet

The People's Friend Special - - CONTENTS -

by Eliza Barret

Each

year there are new kinds of diets to try – I’ve done them all, over the years. Each fresh one seems such a good plan at the time, But inevitably ends up in tears!

I’ve tried buying a dress two sizes too small – It still hangs in the wardrobe unworn; The rowing machine and the exercise bike Now stand in the garage forlorn.

High carbs or low fat, counting the calories, Fasting for days – I will try it! My family say, ‘Why not try just eating less Instead of some fancy new diet?’

Because everyone’s tired of my crazes and fads, I vow, for my family’s sake, That I will simply try some self-discipline (Right after that last piece of cake!)
