My amaryllis is finished flowering. Will it flower again next year?

The People's Friend - - Gardening -

Once the flowers are finished the leaves take over and continue to grow, so keep your amaryllis watered, fed monthly and give it warmth and light. They are quite happy in a cold greenhouse over summer, but then begin to dry them off before autumn to ripen up the bulb. Do not pot them up as they prefer a restricted root ball. Flower buds will form inside the dried-off bulbs.

John Stoa will answer your gardening queries on this page where possible but regrets he cannot send personal replies. Please do not send SAES with your letters.
